Placement Services
- American Educational Guidance Center (AEGC)
- AEGC operates a fee-based college placement service for international
students. AEGC provides international students with assistance in gaining
admission to US institutions of higher education. AEGC has
arrangements with 100 "cooperating" institutions that have agreed to
accept their generic application form, waive initial application fees,
and render admissions decisions in 15 days or less. AEGC works with
the student to select one to five of the cooperating institutions. AEGC
guarantees to refund their fee if they cannot secure admission for
the student to one of these institutions within 30 days. About a third
of the institutions have agreed to guarantee admitted AEGC applicants
annual, renewable scholarships of at least $1,000.
AEGC works through an international network of representatives. There
are currently representatives in Japan, Turkey,
China, Taiwan, India, Senegal, Philippines, France, Hong Kong, Korea, Brazil,
Spain, Venezuela, South Africa, Germany and Singapore. Students from
these countries are referred to the appropriate representative. The
fees vary from country to country, but average US$850.
Dan Rosenfield, AEGC's director, has served as a college admissions director.
